A scientific study has shown that too little sleep tricks memory, as such people who are deprived of shuteye are more likely to make things up they have 'seen'. Lack of sleep also makes people more likely to form false memories.
104 Students in study were shown photos of crime taking place then false information about images. Sleep deprived participants were more likely to report made-up details. The research team says findings could have important legal applications.
